#4 Kurd Bijar -- New Rug, March 2009

4’5” x 6’10"

Kurd Bijar dozar, from Iranian Kurdistan, probably from near the city of Bijar, in western Iran, dating to the 19th century, 4’5” x 6’10”. Kurdish pile rugs often have camel-colored wool fields, as do kilims from the same area, and the coloration is a sort of a marker. The dye colors in this piece are very clear and have undoubtably been applied to white wool. Now and again, other rugs like this piece appear on the market, so it represents a specific village’s weaving style. Complete and in very good condition, wool foundation.
