the a workshop near the city of Arak in western
Iran, dating to 1910, 46 x

town of Rosveh, in Feridan, a district next to

with cotton warps and wool wefts, and a variety of

opposed light blue birds, comes from an early
tradition, but is hardly ever used the way it is
here. Complete and in almost perfect

#4 Kurd
Bijar --
New Rug, March 2009

45
x 610"
Kurd Bijar dozar, from
Iranian Kurdistan, probably from near the city of
Bijar, in western Iran, dating to the 19th century,
45 x 610. Kurdish pile rugs
often have camel-colored wool fields, as do kilims
from the same area, and the coloration is a sort of
a marker. The dye colors in this piece are very
clear and have undoubtably been applied to white
wool. Now and again, other rugs like this piece
appear on the market, so it represents a specific
villages weaving style. Complete and in very
good condition, wool foundation.
